Kerk in Actie Program Officers Commend Church of Uganda’s Efforts During Successful Completion of DRR and CCA Project Monitoring in Kitgum Diocese

Kerk in Actie Program Officers for Africa; Hilda Timmerman and Hette Domburg have today successfully completed their project monitoring activity for the Strengthening Community Resilience through Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) project, in the Diocese of Kitgum, a project they fully fund.

They commended Church of Uganda’s Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) program for championing self-sustainability and building unity and cohesion within communities.

Additionally, the team praised the Church’s efforts in promoting environmental conservation through tree planting, proper waste disposal and managing plastics effectively.

They made the comments during the exit meeting with the Diocesan leadership team and the Directorate of Household and Community Transformation (HCT) at the Diocesan Headquarters in Kitgum today.

The project is being implemented in the District of Lamwo in the Diocese of Kitgum, covering two sub-counties: Palabek Ogili and Palabek Nyimur. The project, is its second year of the second cycle of implementation since its inception in October 2018 and is expected to run for a total of 36 months.
