Today is a special day. The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, His Grace Rev. Dr. Stephen Kaziimba has arrived at the Namugongo Martyrs Anglican Site to assess its readiness ahead of the Martyrs’ Day celebrations. “I want to thank God for the Martyrs because we are here because of them. If they had not remained strong in their faith, we would not be here. You people who walk to Namugongo and start drinking and enjoying yourselves, it means you come here to do nothing. You are as good as those who didn’t come. Those of you who come to enjoy at Namugongo, this isn’t about fun. It’s about conforming to the truth of God’s word, not the patterns of the world. Our people here are affected by the patterns of this world. These days, people don’t appreciate themselves, especially women. They buy artificial hips and breasts, and I sympathize with the men who admire that outside beauty. You will be shocked. When you follow the patterns of this world, you will be disappointed. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Brothers, the ways of this world are not good for God’s kingdom. We must follow God’s word because the ways of this world are full of lies. Not everyone who claims to be saved truly is; some are liars. So I urge you, do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” His Grace Rev. Dr. Stephen Kaziimba
