Recognizing the vital role of the Inter Religious Council of Uganda

NAMIREMBE: The Provincial Secretary of the Church of Uganda, Rev. Canon William Ongeng, and the Secretary General of the Inter Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU), Mr. Joshua Kitakule and their technical Staff, met today in Namirembe to discuss opportunities for partnership between the two organizations.

“We recognize the vital role that the Inter Religious Council of Uganda plays in promoting peace, unity, and development in our communities. We believe that by working together, we can achieve even greater impact and transform more lives.” Canon Ongeng said.

He commended IRCU for promoting religious tourism, citing its significance in promoting cultural exchange.

“Religious tourism plays a significant role in promoting cultural exchange, spiritual enrichment, and local economies. It’s a unique opportunity to connect with different faiths, traditions, and heritage. I thank you for promoting it and let’s continue to embrace and celebrate diversity.” Canon Ongeng said.

Mr. Kitakule commended Church of Uganda for their long time support to IRCU and offering it Strategic leadership and advice.

“IRCU is committed to building bridges between different faiths and working collaboratively to address common challenges. We thank Church of Uganda as our member for your strategic guidance and leadership always. We are excited about the prospect of partnering with the Church of Uganda to create positive change in our communities.” Mr. Kitakule said.

Both organizations will explore ways to collaborate on initiatives related to education, health, and social welfare. They will also seek opportunities to engage with other stakeholders and leverage their respective strengths to maximize impact.
