KAMPALA – 14th February 2026: The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, has today hosted over 100 couples he has wedded since his ordination in 1990 for fellowship at St. John’s Chapel, Mengo Senior School in Kampala.
Archbishop Kaziimba said, this year’s fellowship coincided with Valentines Day, popularly known for being the day of celebrating love worldwide.
“I am so happy that this year’s fellowship happened today when couples celebrate love while others make marriage proposals. We began the day with a Holy Communion Service and concluded with listening to great speakers. It was a time to renew our vows, to resuscitate, recommit, rebuild, reconnect, resurrect and reform our marriages.” Archbishop Kaziimba said.

He noted that he keeps record of every couple he has wedded and regularly follows up on their wellbeing, charging all Church Ministers to follow suit.
“I have kept note of the details of every couple I have wedded ever since I was made a Deacon in 1990 to date and I conduct tracer studies to know their whereabouts and how they are progressing. Through this fellowship, we have networked, shared experiences, listened to speakers, and planned together as a team.” Archbishop Kaziimba said.
The lead facilitators were Mr. Samuel Bakutana of Inspired Leaders International and the Provincial Fathers’ Union of the Church of Uganda, together with his wife, Charity Bakutana.
Speaking on the topic, making marriages sweeter, Mr. Bakutana said that several marriages have broken apart because of how couples manage their attitude, not giving each other the attention they deserve, and lack of affection in marriage.
“Attitude is like a flat tyre. Without changing it, you cannot move on. Several marriages have failed because of couples taking each other for granted, despising each other, being selfish and leaving several conflicts unresolved.” Mr Bakutana said.

According to the Chairman of the Fellowship of Archbishop Kaziimba Couples, Mr. Herbert Bataamye, the group has also initiated a savings and investment scheme. Each couple contributes Shs 60,000 per month.
“We started saving last year. We are encouraging more couples to join so that we can invest meaningfully for a better future. Our Patron, Archbishop Kaziimba has been very supportive in this endeavor” Mr. Bataamye said.
During the fellowship, medical doctors including Dr Simon Peter Nsingo the Executive Director of Mengo Hospital also addressed the couples on healthy living. They encouraged regular exercise, balanced diets, and routine medical check-ups as part of sustaining stable families.
