Church of Uganda Archbishop Hosts Breakfast Meeting with Worldwide Mothers’ Union President

NAMIREMBE: The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev Dr Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu and his Wife, Mama Margaret Kaziimba, have today hosted a breakfast meeting with the Worldwide Mothers’ Union President, Mrs Sheran Harper, and Chief Executive of Mothers’ Union, Mrs Bev Julien, in their home in Namirembe.

During the meeting, the Archbishop commended Mothers’ Union for upholding Christian family values and called upon them to remain firm on the same.

He highlighted the critical role that Mothers’ Union plays in the development of the country, particularly in promoting family values and called for more partnership to support the family life ministry.

The Worldwide Mothers’ Union President, Mrs Sheran Harper, expressed her gratitude for the warm reception and commended the Mothers Union of the Church of Uganda for being a role model to other Unions across the globe.

“I am pleased to be here in Uganda and to witness the amazing work being done by Mothers’ Union. Many countries across the world look up to Mothers Union Uganda as a role model in many aspects. We will continue to support them in their efforts to promote Christian family values.”

The meeting was also attended by Rev Canon William Ongeng, the Provincial Secretary of the Church of Uganda; Mr. Balaam Muheebwa, the Provincial Treasurer; Mrs Grace Murengezi, the Provincial Mothers’ Union President and her Deputy, Mrs. Caroline Cic, and Mrs. Barbara Mugisha, the Mothers’ Union Coordinator.

Mrs Barbara Mugisha, highlighted some of the projects being run by Mothers’ Union in Uganda, including gender-based violence campaigns, becoming one ministry, ministry to children, and the Father’s Union.

She emphasized the importance of these projects in promoting family values and strengthening communities.

The Worldwide Mothers’ Union President, Mrs Sheran Harper, will be in Uganda for a weeklong official visit, during which she will tour a number of projects being run by Mothers’ Union in the Church of Uganda and attend Mary’s Day on Sunday at All Saints Cathedral Kampala, where new members will be enrolled into the Mothers’ Union.
